Program Overview

The Humboldt-Universitat zu Berlin offers a variety of programs, including the Zentraleinrichtung Hochschulsport. This program provides students with the opportunity to engage in various sports and physical activities.

Jazz Dance Program

The Jazz Dance program is a form of contemporary dance that originated in the multicultural society of the USA. It is characterized by expressive movements, with a focus on the emotions of the dancer. The program includes elements such as isolations, absolute body control, and soft, flowing movements.

Program Description

The Jazz Dance program begins with a warm-up, where participants learn the technical basics of the dance style. The program then progresses to practicing turns and jumps, as well as learning choreographies. The training is rounded off with stretching and strengthening exercises.

Level and Participation Requirements

The program is offered at two levels:

• A1: This level is for beginners, where participants learn the basic movements and simple choreographies.
• A2: This level is for participants with prior knowledge of the A1 course, where they can deepen their understanding of the elements learned in the A1 course.

Important Notice

Participants are required to bring sports clothing, a drink, and a towel to the training sessions. The dance is performed barefoot or in socks.

The following courses are offered:

• A1: Tuesday, 13:30-15:00, Sporthalle Am Weidendamm 3, Room A 1st floor left
• A1-A2: Wednesday, 18:30-20:00, Sporthalle Am Weidendamm 3, Room A 1st floor left
• A2-F: Wednesday, 20:00-21:30, Sporthalle Am Weidendamm 3, Room A 1st floor left

Costs

The costs for the courses are as follows:

• 21 EUR for students
• 35 EUR for employees
• 59 EUR for external participants and alumni
